Civie gives you one to three civic questions a day (a new set opens at 6 AM Pacific). Answer or skip, then see anonymous, aggregated results. It is not a social network: no comments, no followers, no feeds. This page is a plain-English summary for convenience; the full legal text (tab above) is the binding agreement.
No bots or scripts, no creating multiple accounts, no trying to manipulate results, and no breaking the law. We can suspend accounts that abuse the Service.
Your answers are anonymous by design (see the Privacy page for exactly how). Civie publishes its data openly: aggregated results plus the anonymized responses themselves (each answer with its demographics, never with anything identifying). Published datasets are open data under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, meaning anyone can use them with attribution.
Organizations can fund a topic, but Civie writes and controls every question, and sponsored ones are always labeled. Sponsors see only the same public aggregate numbers as everyone else, never individual responses or personal information.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features over time, and these Terms and the Privacy Policy can change too. When something material changes we will tell you, by a notice in the Service or by email where your account has one. You can delete your account whenever you like; anonymous answers remain in the public dataset because nothing links them to you.
Talk to us first at chris@civie.org. If we cannot work it out, disputes are resolved by individual arbitration in Washington State rather than class actions, and Washington law governs. The details, including warranty disclaimers and liability limits, are in the full legal text.
