About

What it is

Civie is a private space for public opinion. It was created to make civic participation simple and accessible, one small moment at a time. Each day, Civie asks a few thoughtful questions about the world around us. You answer anonymously, see the results in aggregate, and move on with your day. Your say, every day.

Why it exists

Civie exists because most people care about what is happening in the world, but many do not have an easy way to participate. Traditional civic engagement can feel intimidating, time consuming, or performative. Social media often rewards volume over reflection. Formal polling reaches only a narrow portion of the population. Civie lowers the barrier to civic participation by creating a quiet, repeatable habit that anyone can take part in.

The daily habit

The daily format is intentional. Each twenty four hour window captures a snapshot of how people are feeling in that moment. Over time, those snapshots form patterns that show how perspectives shift alongside real world events. The goal is not perfect attendance. The goal is consistency across time, where many small acts of participation add up to meaningful insight.

Privacy first

Privacy comes first. Civie tracks that you participated, not how you answered. Responses are stored anonymously and shared only in aggregate. People are more honest when they feel safe, and honest participation is what gives the data its value.

Many voices

When enough people show up regularly, something powerful emerges. Individual answers become patterns. Patterns become trendlines. Trendlines become a clearer picture of public sentiment over time. Not louder voices. More voices.

Who we are

Civie was created by Chris Gu, a product builder interested in how people participate in public life and how opinion evolves. What began as a personal project continues to be built with care around simplicity, privacy, and lowering the barrier to civic participation.
